Stephanie Dennis lives and works in Oakland, CA. The Shelter Series from 2020 is presented on this page. In addition to the Shelter Series, other recent work from Stephanie Dennis displayed on this website for your review, are the Refuge Drawings, the Tower Drawings, and the Mound Paintings. Her abstract drawings and paintings are rooted in the landscape and investigate ideas about place, migration, loss and belonging. Using a range of materials in her practice, she employs expressionistic mark-making, line and shape to create compositions that probe our perception of safety and vulnerability. Her work is often characterized by forms coalescing into contained structures or dispersing out across space.
